Ok. I had the best of intentions but something has seriously gone wrong. I just don’t seem to be very good at scheduling “blog time”. One post in July and one in October of 2011 must be a record for procrastination! Now I know w3hat my new year’s resolution should have been.
So, here’s some thoughts about what I might talk about over the next little while (i.e., things that are on my mind from a professional perspective………
- The I&IT consulting business in view of the new world orde (i.e., its harder to find interesting work)
- The deluge of information being published about Cloud Computing – is it really the saviour of I&IT ?
- Cloud Computing standards (my pet volunteer activity)
- Systems architectures of various flavours – just how do you go about planning an system anyways?
- Blogging and other social systems
- Anything else I think of along the way
Needless to say, there is nothing magic about this list, and possibly nothing very interesting to read when I put thoughts to paper but let’s see what happens as time goes by.
If the world had turned out differently, I would be preparing to go to Vancouver for the first meeting of ISO JTC1 SC38/WG3 which is the ISO committee developing standards for Cloud Computing. There will be more than 60 people from all over the world gathering for a week to begin work on a Vocabulary and Reference Architecture for Cloud Computing. This is the culmination of several years of work done in SC38 to identify areas where standards are needed. I’m on the Canadian Advisory Committee to SC38, so will probably talk about what I’m learning and doing on this committee.
Enough for now……..hope that this won’t get stalled again!
